18/17 Power League Qualifier Recap


The 2018-19 season of tournament officially kicked off this weekend with the 18/17's Power League Qualifier. This two day event determines the initial seeding of the Power League tournaments that are played throughout the course of the Fall.

 

Bay to Bay had five teams competing over the weekend and had a great showing at the San Mateo Event Center. Take a look at each teams recap below!

Bay to Bay 18-1

The 18-1's entered the tournament as the #2 overall seed and finished the weekend with a record of 6-1, losing to Bay to Bay 18-2's in a very competitive Sunday matchup. They will enter Power League #1 as the 8 seed overall.

Bay to Bay 18-2

Coach Josh and the 18-2's had a tremendous tournament finishing at 8-0 on the weekend. The team has continued to improve coming off a Club division bronze medal finish at Junior Nationals this past Summer.

Bay to Bay 17-1

The 17-1's showed continuous improvement throughout the weekend. In a head-to-head show down to go to gold, the 17-1's fell just short 17-19 in the third set against a strong PacRim team.

Bay to Bay 17-2

The 17-2's finished the weekend with a record of 5-3 and saved some of their best performances for the final day of the tournament. The team won multiple close sets to finish as the 28th seed (a 10 seed improvement from their starting point on Sunday).

Bay to Bay 16-1

The youngest team in the division held their own against the 18's and will start the year in the Gold division at Power League 1. Coach Steve, Javi, and Alongi's squad overtook the #4 overall seed on day 1 and finished the tournament with key wins over TVA 18-1 and Slainte 17-1.
