NCVA Power League 2 Boys Club Volleyball Recap

It was a weekend full of action at Power League 2! We had 16 Bay to Bay teams get promoted or hold their current division seeds after the weekend. Highlights included 14-Premier 2nd place, 16-Club third place 🥉, 18-Premier/17-Premier/14-Club going undefeated, and 13-1 and 16-Premier earning promotions into Gold.

12-1: The 12-1’s went 1-3 in the Bronze division of 14’s. The boys lost a close match to NorCal 14-1’s and then defeated SAVA 14’s to split in the morning pool. Once in the playoffs, the boys lost in 2 sets to Titan Volleyball and then fell in a very close three set match with Aspire 14’s (25-19, 15-25, 17-19). The boys will move back to the 12’s net for the next three weeks in preparation for their first 12’s tournament: Chi Town Challenge.


12-Premier: 12-Premier came in 2nd place in their morning pool after taking down Titan Volleyball 14/13’s (26-24, 25-19). Once in the contenders bracket, the team went 0-2 losing to MVVC 14 Hole and UC Elite 14’s. The boys will move back to the 12’s net for the next three weeks in preparation for their first 12’s tournament: Chi Town Challenge.


13-1: Coach Frank and Allie’s team were promoted into the Gold division after a strong showing at Power League 2. The boys went 2-0 in their morning pool defeating BAVC 14’s and MVVC 13 Black. Once in the contenders bracket the team took down UC Elite to secure their promotion and then fell in 3 sets against Bay to Bay 14-Club in an entertaining final match.


13-Premier: The boys of 13-Premier made their first appearance in the Gold division at Power League #2. They went 0-2 in their morning pool losing to MVVC 13 Red and Slainte 14’s. In the consolation bracket the team lost a close match to Diablo 14’s but ended the day on a high note with an intense 3 set win over Academy 13’s (25-22, 16-25, 18-16). The boys will move back down to the Silver division for Power League #3.


14-1: The 14-1’s went 3-1 on the weekend while playing up in the 16’s division. All four of the matches went to 3 sets and the boys showed their determination and grit as every player was able to contribute in multiple ways. The boys will move back down to the women’s height net in preparation for their first 14’s tournament in the Open division of the Chi Town Challenge.


14-Premier 🥈: Coach Colton and Cassie’s team finished in 2nd place during Power League 2. The boys dispatched off Absolute 14’s, Diablo 14’s, SF Elite, and MVVC 14 Black before falling to Academy 14-1’s in the finals. 14-Premeir players Jonathan Yee and Andre Post then came to support the 14-1’s in the 16’s division ALL DAY on Saturday! Shout out to them for their dedication.


14-Club: The boys of 14-Club had themselves a day on Saturday! They went 2-0 in their morning pool defeating Lakes and Synergy Force. They then took down Academy 14-2’s before defeating Bay to Bay 13-1’s to go undefeated on the day. They will move back into the Gold division for Power League #3.


15-1: The 15-1’s went 1-3 on the weekend while playing in the Bronze division of 18’s. The boys started out strong taking down Bay to Bay 16-1’s in 3 sets (18-25, 25-22, 15-12) but dropped a 3-set match to Rage 18’s that put them on the short end of a 3-way tie stick. Once in the consolation bracket the boys lost to Absolute 18’s (17-25, 21-25) and Slainte 17’s (20-25, 27-29). On the whole, the boys were able to incorporate a lot of the things we have been working on in practice into their game play, the team will focus on its offensive system heading into the Chi Town Challenge.


15-Premier: Coach Lacey and Bryan’s team went 1-4 on the weekend, losing two close matches to NCVC 16-2’s and MVVC 16 National to start the day. They rebounded with a nice win over BAVC 15’s but fell to Core 16’s which placed them in a rematch with BAVC 15’s where they lost in 2 sets. The boys will move into the Bronze division for Power League 3.

15-Club: Coach Andrew and Kyle’s team took first in their morning pool and earned their way into the contenders bracket. They lost a super close match with NCVC 16-2’s (22-25, 31-33, 14-16) for a chance to move into the Gold bracket. The boys ran out of steam at the end of the day against NorCal 16-1’s to finish in 16th place.


16-1: Coach Chad and Alex’s squad went 1-1 in their morning pool defeating Rage 18’s and losing to Bay to Bay 15-1’s. The boys came out of the pool in 2nd place thanks to a 3-way tie and squared off against 17-Premier in the first round of the Silver Championship bracket where they fell (21-25, 20-25). In their final match of the day the 16-1’s lost to TVA 18’s in a barn burner (22-25, 33-35).


16-Premier: Coach Gregg and Natalie’s squad split their morning pool: losing to NCVC 17-1 and defeating Slainte 17’s. Once in the Silver Championship bracket the boys took down TVA 18’s but fell to Bay to Bay 17-Premier. In a one match playoff to move back into Gold 16-Premier came out on top defeating Rage 18’s (25-23, 12-25, 16-14) to earn their promotion back into Gold for PL3.

16-Club 🥉: Coach Sean and Julian’s team had a great weekend finishing in third place at Power League 2. They boys split their morning pool matches defeating Lakas and losing to SF Elite. In the Championship bracket the boys took down Pac Rim 16’s in the quarters but lost to Red Rock 16-1’s in the semi finals. In the 3/4 matchup the team defeated BAVC 16-1’s to secure the 3rd place finish in Gold.


16-National: Coach Ben and Ryan’s team went 0-2 in their morning pool but had a 3-setter with MVVC 16 Black (26-24, 19-25, 6-15). Once in the Consolation bracket they lost to UC Elite and Rage 16’s which will move them into the Silver division of 16’s at Power League 3. The boys will be competing in the Club division at the Chi Town Challenge.


17-1: Coach Arielle and Cos’ team finished in 4th place at Power League #2. They went 2-0 in their morning pool defeating NCVC 18-1 and MVVC 18 Black. Once in the Championship bracket they dispatched of Apache before falling to MVVC 18 Red in the semis.

17-Premier: Coach Mason and Pin-Joe’s team went 2-0 in their morning pool taking down Pac Rim 18’s and Core 18’s. Once in the Silver Championship bracket the boys ran the Bay to Bay gauntlet and took down the 16-1’s (25-21, 25-20) and Bay to Bay 16-Premier (23-25, 25-17, 15-11) to earn their promotion into the Gold division at PL3.

17-Club: Coach Bryan and Katie’s team split their morning pool by defeating Aloha 17-1’s and losing to NCVC 18-2’s. Once in the the Aqua Championship bracket the team went 2-0 in a couple epic matches against Absolute 18’s (23-25, 26-24, 16-14) and SF Elite 17’s ((21-25, 25-22, 20-18) to earn a promotion into the Bronze division.

18-1: Coach Ryan and Mason’s team went 2-0 in their morning pool defeating Red Rock 18’s and Dynamix 18’s. Once in the Gold championship bracket the boys lost a close 3-setter to MVVC 17 Red (25-22, 20-25, 12-15). To close out their day the 18-1’s dispatched of NorCal 18-1’s (25-19, 25-9).

18-Premier: Coach Ryan and Dylan’s team went 2-0 in their morning pool taking down Absolute 18’s and TVA 18’s. Once in the Silver Championship bracket the boys continued their barn burner streak and defeated NCVC 17’s (25-18, 22-25, 15-10) and then defeated Rge 18 (30-32, 25-22, 15-4) to earn their promotion back into the Gold division.

18-Club: Coach Ryan and Kyle’s team went 2-0 in their morning pool defeating MVVC 18-National and Red Rock 18 National. Once in the Bronze Championship bracket the boys did a clean sweep of Core 17’s and BAVC 17’s to earn a promotion into the Silver division.
