Chi Town Challenge Boys Club Volleyball Recap

It was the first national tournament of the 2023-24 season and there were over 800+ teams competing from across the country. Our Bay to Bay teams excelled across the board in their respective divisions. We had 17 teams finish in the top-10, 15 teams make the Gold bracket, 8 teams medaled, and 3 teams brought home the Gold medal (17-Premier, 15-Premier, 12-1).

Chi Town Challenge Results


12-1: The 12-1’s went undefeated on the weekend securing first place and the gold medals 🥇 at the Chi Town Challenge! The boys only dropped one set on the weekend and bested former #1 seed MOD twice over the weekend. This is back to back years that the 12-1's have won the Chi Town Challenge.

12-Premier: The 12-Premier team finished 5th in Chicago and won the Silver bracket on Monday. They were one spot away from making the final 4 and went an impressive 5-3 on the weekend!

13-1: The 13-1’s took some big strides this weekend going 7-1 and finishing in third place 🥉. The boys had some impressive wins including a gutsy comeback against MOD in the quarter finals.

13-Premier: The boys of 13-P went 4-3 on the weekend playing in the Open division. The boys took down MOD, Academy, and Volley Next 1’s teams and lost a close 3-setter to MVC (who finished 3rd overall).

14-1: The boys of 14-1 went 4-3 on the weekend and finished in the silver bracket of the Open division. They took care of business against SPVB, 630, and 949 1’s teams but lost in the “pool of death” on day 2 when they had the #1 and #2 overall seeds. They finished out the tournament with a close 3 set battle against Miami United in the Silver bracket.

14-Premier: The boys of 14-P went 7-2 on the weekend and finished with a bronze medal 🥉! The team narrowly missed a berth in the championship match of the 14-Premier division. They lost a close 3 setter to Winter Park (25-19, 12-25, 14-16). Great things to come from the boys!


14-Club: The boys of 14-Club had a fantastic showing in the 14-Premier division finishing in 5th place with a record of 5-3. They had an epic matchup against AZ Fear (coached by former Bay to Bay coach Lavelle Lewis) in the first round of gold (avenging the 14-Premier team who lost to AZ Fear the night before).

15-1: The boys of 15-1 went 8-1 on the weekend finishing with a silver medal 🥈 in the 15 Open division. They bested Coast, Balboa Bay, SCVC, and MOD before falling to Rockstar in the finals. A great showing for their first tournament playing their age group!


15-Premier: The boys of 15-Premier took home the gold medal 🥇 of the 15 Premier division behind a great team effort! The team went 7-3 on the weekend (even going 0-2 in their day 2 pool) but they rescued their gold hopes by winning a huge crossover match against SCVC. Coach Emily also caught her flight with 1 minute to spare and received a full round of applause as she made her way down the aisle!

15-Club: The boys of 15-Club finished the weekend 7-2 while playing up in the 15 Premier division. They were knocked out of gold contention on day 2 after two close 3 set losses to Miami United and Phoenix.

16-1: The boys of 16-1 played a great weekend of volleyball finishing in 5th place in the Open division. They went 7-1 (only loss was to Rockstar in the quarterfinals) and won some big matchups against Pulse, MB Surf and WAVE.

16-Premier: The boys of 16-Premier finished with a bronze medal 🥉 at the Chi Town Challenge and a final record of 7-2. They lost a close 3 set matchup to Winter Park in the semis (20-25, 26-24, 11-15).


16-Club: The boys of 16-Club went 5-1 on the weekend finishing tied for 5th place. Their only loss came in the quarterfinals to Cinci Attack (23-25, 23-25). Some strong things to build on heading into Power League 3.

16-National: The boys of 16-National went 6-2 on the weekend and finished in 5th place in the 16 Classic division. They had some great wins against Sports Performance, Academy, and Ultimate.


17-1: The boys of 17-1 went 5-3 on the weekend. They went 1-2 on day 2 just missing the gold bracket with two close 3-set losses to Yorktowne (25-18, 20-25, 13-15) and eventual champion Balboa Bay (25-13, 14-25, 9-15).

17-Premier: The boys of 17-Premier won the Chi Town Challenge for the third time in a row (15’s through 17’s). The avenged their AAU finals loss by defeating Balboa Bay in 3 sets to take home the gold medal 🥇.


17-Club: The boys of 17-Club worked their way all the way into the championship match of the 17 Classic division. With a final record of 7-2 the boys had big wins over MVVC, A-10, and VC United before falling to 630 in the finals and earning a silver medal 🥈.


18-1: The boys of 18-1 battled their way into the gold bracket of the 18 Open division behind a complete team effort. Their only two losses were 3 setters to MVC and 630. They finished tied for 11th with their first round loss in the gold bracket.


18-Premier: The boys of 18-Premier went 5-2 on the weekend and finished tied for 5th place in the 18 Premier division after an epic match with A2 (23-25, 31-29, 13-15). It was a strong showing for the boys and they showcased what they are capable of.


18-Club: The boys of 18-Club went 7-1 on the weekend. Their only loss came in the first round of the 18 Classic gold bracket in an epic 3-set match against Forza (25-19, 24-26, 14-16). Coach Ryan and Kyle were very excited about their teams progress during the weekend.
