Beach Club

Beach Club FAQ's

  1. Can my son play in the beach club and in the indoor club?

    • Yes! Beach club practices do not interfere with the Bay to Bay indoor schedule. Players from all clubs and skill levels are welcome to tryout.

  2. Is beach volleyball good for indoor players?

    • Absolutely! Beach volleyball is the best cross-training tool for indoor players. Unlike indoors, there are only two players on a team. This maximizes the contacts for each person since both players will have to pass, set, hit, block, and play defense in every single rally.

  3. Do I need a partner in order to sign-up?

    • No, it is not necessary to have a partner when you sign up. Selected athletes will be placed in competition groups with players of similarly based skill and age levels.

Time Commitment

Fall Beach Club is a once-a-week commitment from September - February. The club will practice on Sunday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.

This training schedule allows players to participate in the indoor club season with zero conflict with NCVA tournaments and Bay to Bay practices. The season ends the first week of February with an inter-club tournament at West Valley. Beach Club practices do not interfere with indoor club practices.

Competition Groups

Beach volleyball is a 2 on 2 game. While this means that players must compete with a partner, it does not mean that you have to have a partner to join the beach club. Under the supervision of court and lead coaches, players in the beach club will be broken into small groups of similarly based skill and age levels. These competition groups allow for maximum individual contacts, while still maintaining the "game like" atmosphere. When it comes to competing in tournaments, if you do not have a set partner, we will try and put players of similar age and skill levels together.

Each competition group will practice at the same time. This allows the entire club (coaches and players) to interact during training group sessions.

Coaching Staff

Alex Jones, a standout USA beach volleyball player and coach, will serve as the lead instructor. Alex was a member of the USA Beach Junior National Team for 3 years, finishing as high as 5th place in the World Championships. Alex also serves as the lead evaluator and tryout coach for the 2016 USA Beach High Performance Program, running tryouts all across the country.

Each competition group will also have a court coach to help provide a comprehensive and positive coaching environment. Court coaches will rotate within competition groups to ensure interaction with each and every member of the club throughout the season. Our coaches train with the most current techniques used by the National Governing Body: USA Beach.

Tournament Registration

California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) memberships and tournament registration fees are not included in Bay to Bay beach club dues. Players are responsible for selecting and registering for the CBVA and NCVA tournaments they choose to attend. Bay to Bay can not reserve space for players in CBVA tournaments.

Due to high demand, we recommend players register for CBVA youth beach tournaments as early as possible.

Club Dues / Uniforms

2018 Spring season dues are $775. These dues are payable by check or online through PayPal (6-month payment plans available) before the first day of beach practice. Dues include one beach volleyball, court time, coach pay, insurance, and uniform package.
