Filming Matches & Club Video Share

In this post, we will overview some helpful hints for parents who are looking to record their son's matches. Once you record your matches, we hope you will upload them all to the new Bay to Bay Video Share!

What you will need:

  • Camera

  • Tripod

  • Charger

  • Scoreboard iPhone app

Where to place the camera:

  • Position your tripod and camera on your teams end line in line with the center of the court.

  • This is the viewpoint used by the collegiate and olympic level. It provides the best angle to analyze positioning of players, serves, attacks, etc.

  • Check out the video below for an example:

Tricks for recording:

  • Throughout the match you can track the score on your phone scoreboard app and then intermittently show the scoreboard to the camera.

Upload your videos to YouTube or Vimeo:

  • Combine all of the sets from a single match into one video and upload to your preferred video site.

  • Upload the videos as "Unlisted" rather than public or private. This ensures that the videos cannot just be searched for online by any other coach looking to scout your team, but only someone who has the direct link is able to view the video.

Share your videos on the Bay to Bay Video Share:

  • Now that your videos are published online, you can share the links to the Bay to Bay website for all of your teammates, coaches, and parents to see.

  • Go to www.b2bvolleyball.com/videoshare or select "Video Share" from the Resources drop down menu.

  • Input the match data, paste the video link, and click submit!

Being able to go back and watch matches is hugely important for coaches and players to be able to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement.

As well, there is strength in our numbers. Coaches and players are able to go on and scout upcoming opponents by watching their matches against other Bay to Bay teams.

Thank you for taking the time to record and upload your son's videos!
