Region Championship Recap

This past weekend concluded the 2019 Power League season! It was most definitely a memorable one with Bay to Bay teams showing strong improvement and consistency throughout the course of the year. Next up on the calendar is bid season! All Bay to Bay teams will be back in the gym this weekend (Dec. 28-29) at The Foundry in Redwood City.

Bay to Bay 18-1:

Our eldest boys put together a fantastic tournament going 7-1 and finishing in 5th place. They won an epic match against Bay to Bay 17-1’s (26-28, 25-22, 18-16) but they came out as 2nd in the pool due to a 3-way tie based upon point ratio, barely missing a berth in the semi finals.

Bay to Bay 17-1:

After falling just short in an epic match against the 18-1’s Sunday morning, the 17-1’s advanced to the Gold bracket. They won the semi-finals in straight sets and lost a closely contested championship match (21-25, 25-20, 13-15). This finish secured their spot as the #2 team in the 18-under division.

Bay to Bay 17-2:

Coach Ryan and Sam’s squad finished the weekend 3-5. Through the Power League season the boys made two appearances in the Gold division and never dropped below Silver. The team also recently competed in an ALS fundraiser tournament, raising over $250 as a team.

Bay to Bay 16-1: Playing up in the 18’s division, the 16-1’s proved a force to be reckoned with. The boys went 6-2 on the weekend narrowly losing in three sets to Bay to Bay 17-1’s and defeating our Bay to Bay 18-1’s (26-24, 21-25, 17-15). They finished in a 3-way tie for first with a chance to go to the semifinals but came out on the short end of the point ratio. Undeterred, the team swept through their remaining matches to finish 8th in the 18’s division!

Bay to Bay 16-2:

Coach Arin & Mark’s team went 7-1 on the weekend narrowly missing a spot in the semi finals. The boys were a perennial top-5 team in the 16’s division all season long and look to carry their momentum into bid season. Coach Arin said, "We are ready to get back into the gym".

Bay to Bay 16-Club:

Going 5-3 this weekend helped Coach Josh & John’s team hold their #21 seed in the Championship division. Coach John said he was proud of how the team came together during Region Championships.

Bay to Bay 15-1:

Coach Frank & Allie’s team went 6-2 on the weekend, pushing them into 4th place in the 16-under division. The boys consistently finished in the top-4 and even had a finals appearance in Power League 3.

Bay to Bay 15-2:

Coach BJ and Ryan’s team went 2-6 on the weekend and improved their seed from 18th to 16th! The boys even pushed the #1 seed in the tournament to 3 sets. Coach Ryan said, “We know we can compete with anyone we face. Just need to improve our consistency and defensive discipline”.

Bay to Bay 15-Club:

The boys went 5-3 on the weekend winning multiple closely contested three setters. Coach Kevin and Jason said it was awesome to see the teams hard work pay off with a berth in the finals of the challenger division.

Bay to Bay 14-1:

The 14-1’s finished the season in 8th place of the 16-under division. On day 1, they took the #2 overall seed to three sets and then upset the #4 overall seed in straight sets. The boys will move back down to the 7’4 net for the remainder of the season in preparation for the bid tournaments.

Bay to Bay 14-Premier:

Coach Josh and Dalton’s team took home the championship of the 14-under division this past weekend. The boys reached the finals of every Power League tournament this season! Coach Josh said, “The guys work hard every day and the support the other Bay to Bay teams gave us meant a lot!”.

Bay to Bay 14-Club:

Coach Jarrod and Ryan’s team went 6-2 at Region Champs bringing home 9th Place. The team was in the Gold division all of Power League and showed some tremendous improvement from start to finish.

Bay to Bay 13-1:

Coach Beau and Hillary’s team went 5-3 finishing the season in 3rd place of the 14-under division. The boys appeared in the semi finals of every Power League tournament and made one appearance in the finals of Power League 1.

Bay to Bay 13-Premier: Coach Lacey and CJ’s team went an insane 7-1 in the Challengers division of Region Champs, their only loss came in the semi finals to the eventual winner. This finish put them in 19th place of the 14-under division.

Bay to Bay 12-1:

Coach Chris and Andrew’s team went 3-5 on the weekend, defeating the only other 12’s teams competing in the 14’s division. Coach Chris said, “We are looking forward to Anaheim where we will get to face off with all U12 teams!”.
